San Juan Bautista is an excellent place for you to stroll along with your pooch. Not only does San Juan Bautista provide nice walking ground with plenty of historic sites, but it’s also abundant with tasty food, beverages and plenty of antique, window shopping.
JJ’s Burgers, Joan & Peter’s and El Jardin are three pet-friendly “local” restaurants that stand out. La Cantina & Dona Esther’s also have pet-friendly patio’s, but always call ahead to double check. It’s been awhile since I’ve visited these last two businesses.
Rule of thumb: If you see an outside table…, it never hurts to ask if they’re pet-friendly.
And if you’re looking to create your own picnic, stop by the Windmill Market or San Juan Bakery to stock up on some warm food and sweets, before hitting The Anza Trail or Fremont Peak State Park. Fremont Peak State Park is definitely worth the drive, and the view is spectacular on a clear day. And there are plenty of nice paved roads to walk your dog. Here’s another nice site on The Anza Trail.
The San Juan Bautista Cemetery District also provides another nice walk about, or shall we say work out.
