Valentines Day: Pink Ears & Poochy Love February 10, 2011

More Ways to Spread that Poochy Love for Valentines Day!

So, the holidays are long over and our hearts are filled with new Spring energy. Isn’t it true? Or is it just me? Aren’t you just jonesing to explore the unknown? Perhaps try something new?  Here are some suggestions to spend a perfect Poochy Love Day.

How about treating your Best Friend to an awesome spa treatment at Canine Concepts in Morgan Hill, followed with a treatment of slightly pink, tinted ears!

Way Cool, and the color choices are numerous for any occasion.

Afterward, hit the Morgan Hill Community Park on Edmundson Avenue and strut your stuff, then run free at our favorite Morgan Hill Dog Park.

Another Romantic spot is walking around the Santa Cruz Harbor, situated in the middle of Twin Lakes State Beach and Seabright Beach.

There are several doggy water fountains

located throughout the harbor if you start to pant, and the scenery is just enjoyable.

If you want to get wet, keep walking towards Light House Point and take a dive. Stomach Growling after a long walk? Grab a bite at the ‘Poochy Friendly’ Aldo’s Harbor Restaurant. Our favorite orders consist of a side of bacon, or a small patty…. yum yum. Another eatery option is the Seabright Brewery. Nothing’s better then an ice cold Blur, and water for your Poochy love.

If venturing out is not your cup of tea, how about a little donation to a local charity in honor of someone special? You can always donate leashes, food and blankets instead of cash. Click on the link Volunteer-Donate Locally for some local suggestions.

Perhaps you’d like to purchase a  Gift Certificate from The Central Coast Pet Sitter for that special someone? A walk a day has as many benefits of exercise and Play! Or maybe you need someone to watch your pet, while you spend a romantic getaway with your other loved one? Whatever you choose to do…Enjoy your Day!

Flamingo’s, Snoopy & Sand January 25, 2011

We ventured out over the weekend and stayed overnight at

The Flamingo Conference Resort & Spa

in Santa Rosa.

Accommodating with Good Customer Service

& Very Pet Friendly!

All the pet friendly rooms have wood flooring with a lovely area to potty, and ample room to walk and sniff. Besides the stiff, non-refundable $50 pet fee, I’d highly recommend this spot for a quiet stop over when visiting the area with your pets! An assortment of the Charles Shulz Peanut characters can be seen throughout the Flamingo grounds.

Snoopy, of course, is our Favorite.

On the way out, we hit pet friendly, leash only

Doran Beach in Bodega Bay.

We all loved the 2-miles of white, sandy beach on a beautiful day!

Pet-Friendly San Juan Bautista March 29, 2010

San Juan Bautista is an excellent place for you to stroll along with your pooch. Not only does San Juan Bautista provide nice walking ground with plenty of historic sites, but it’s also abundant with tasty food, beverages and plenty of antique, window shopping.

JJ’s Burgers, Joan & Peter’s and El Jardin are three pet-friendly “local” restaurants that stand out. La Cantina & Dona Esther’s also have pet-friendly patio’s, but always call ahead to double check. It’s been awhile since I’ve visited these last two businesses.

Rule of thumb: If you see an outside table…, it never hurts to ask if they’re pet-friendly.

And if you’re looking to create your own picnic, stop by the Windmill Market or San Juan Bakery to stock up on some warm food and sweets, before hitting The Anza Trail or Fremont Peak State Park. Fremont Peak State Park is definitely worth the drive, and the view is spectacular on a clear day. And there are plenty of nice paved roads to walk your dog. Here’s another nice site on The Anza Trail.

The San Juan Bautista Cemetery District also provides another nice walk about, or shall we say work out.
